His talents and unorthodox driving style have won him the nickname, "Rim Rider". Davies is well-known for his love of the edge of the upper part of the track, or "Rim." Few drivers utilize this part of the clay oval race surface because of its loose and dangerous characteristics. Davies has mastered this technique and uses it to his advantage as he passes competitors on the "top side." Drivers and fans, both, know this is risky business, which is one of the many reasons Davies hasconsistently been a crowd favorite for more than three decades. He's been known toput on quite a show throughout the years! Many would think at the age of 52, a driver's better racing days have passed, but this is not the case for Davies. His experience, racing record and genuine people-friendly personality have landed him a golden opportunity.
