Davies Brothers to Take Part in Racing for Kids Charity
"Lake/Eriez Shootout"
Aug. 18, 2009
Fourteen of this area's top dirt Late Model drivers will compete in special events to be held on August 20th at Lake Erie Speedway and August 28th at the Eriez Speedway. The featured races during both events will be the Lake/Eriez Shoot Out, featuring the dirt late model stars vs. the L.E.S. pavement stars. The proceeds from the events will benefit the charities supported by "Racing for Kids", a local group of businessmen who have taken it upon themselves to help out local children in need.
Part 1 of the “Lake/Eriez Shootout” will be held at the Lake Erie Speedway on Thursday, August 20th. This will be Round 1 of the 2 round invitational to crown the best late model driver in this region. Last year saw only the dirt stars with David (Slow Ride) Scott taking the title of “Best Dirt Star on Pavement.” This will be a race to remember. They all will be driving L.E.S. modifieds.
The 360 and 410 winged dirt sprint cars will race on the fast 3/8 mile pavement of L.E.S. Scott Bonnell set a track record at 13.47 seconds in last year’s event. That record will surely fall this year. See some of the biggest names in dirt sprint racing in northwest PA.
Also appearing that night will be Frank Guidace and some of northwest PA’s best 358 dirt modified drivers. See these 800 horsepower monsters tackle the L.E.S. pavement. Those at L.E.S. on 5/23/09 saw Frank put down 50 very fast laps in his modified doing some tire test hot laps.
Also on the card will be the Stewart Financial Service Modified Invitational. It will be a 35 lap invitational for the L.E.S. modifieds. First place money will be the biggest pay out of the year.
This show will provide some of the most interesting and exciting racing Erie has even seen!
