Davies Powers New MB Custom Chassis to Checkers at Eriez
May 23, 2010
Hammett, PA
Ron Davies began his season with a brand new Jimmy Mars-Brian Birkhofer Chassis on the pole with Scott Gurdak on the outside of the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Super Late Model feature. Davies led the 22 car field to turn one and had three car lengths over John Volpe at the end of lap one.
At seven laps, Davies had caught the backmarkers and began lapping the field with Volpe and Chris Hackett fighting for second place. At lap eleven, caution flew for last week’s feature winner Scott Johnson who had a problem in turn two. After green again flew, Davies again powered away from the field with Hackett still pressuring Volpe for second.
At lap 17 Hackett completed the pass and set sail for the leader. Davies, again in lapped traffic with 3 to go, was not to be denied, winning for the first time in 2010 in his first outing. Hackett was second with Volpe third, Scott Gurdak, fourth, and John Lacki in fifth.
